Thank you all for the kind comments and encouragement. I can’t guarantee that the book will be a master piece of English literature but I can promise that it will be like no other book written on the subject. There is a lot of new material and personal accounts of my time at the company telling the story of the determination of the workforce to make the impossible dream succeed.
Thirty years ago tomorrow one thousand one hundred workers were dismissed from the factory in the first wave of redundancies. The redundancy programme included office staff, factory supervisors, QC people and management.
We were then just over a week away from Receivership. All expenditure had been stopped and we had been warned that to commit to any expense with the knowledge that we couldn’t pay was a civil if not criminal offence.
There was some support for the project in Parliament from MPs who had suppliers in their constituency but in general the public and government view of our venture was hostile. After all this was Northern Ireland not much sympathy from the man in the street to anything that came from this part of the world.
We struggled on regardless to finish cars using material already in stock or by cannibalising cars for parts.

In another ten days things would change completely.

As some of you probably already know, former Purchasing Manager for the DeLorean factory Nick Sutton,
has written a book about his time at DMCL from 1978 to 1983:

This is the inside story of the DeLorean saga written by a senior manager who worked with the company
from beginning to end and saw it all. The short life of the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car - a vision of the
future with its gullwing doors and stainless steel body - began after John DeLorean secured financial backing
from the British government for his car-making venture in Northern Ireland. Four years and nearly 9,000 cars
later the company closed and DeLorean faced questions about fraud against the British taxpayer, and his big
ally, Colin Chapman of Lotus, also drew scrutiny. As an insider's account, this book contains a great deal of
new information about the DeLorean story.

Hardcover, 256 pages with several pages of illustrations

Darüber hab ich in Nick Suttons Buch aber nichts gefunden

Ist bei Euch auch nur ein Zettel mit der Widmung ins Buch eingeklebt?!

Bei mir klebt auch ein Zettel drin. Ist einfacher als die Bücher direkt zu signieren und zwischen UK und USA hin- und her zu schicken. Obwohl ich es mir schon so vorgestellt hatte.
