aus Tamir´s Forum:

Dear Forum,

I have erased the previous thread on this issue and would like to encourage us to withhold any thoughts on John until we hear more from his family. The news that has been posted on this forum in the previous thread is secondary information that I am not sure was intended to be shared with the general public. For this reason, I wish to maintain a certain amount of discretion and respect for the DeLorean family and the pain they are going through right now.

Once we hear some official news that was meant to be shared with the public, then the forum can be used as an arena to give our thanks to John and our condolences to his family.

Regards,
Tamir

DMCNews:

Ed Lapham from Automotive News in Detroit just called to let me know
that he was told that JZD was released earlier today from a hospital
in Morristown, NJ and transferred to an undisclosed rehabilitation
center.

JZD is alive & doing well after his stroke. Thankfully his stroke wasn't
fatal, and he is still living well after all these years!

Stroke survivors can live happy, healthy, and productive lives. Let's stop
speculating about his health, his current condition, and how we are going to decorate our cars at a funeral.

Say something positive and wish him and his family a fast recovery.

I'm sure that one of his representatives will give us an update when they
feel it's appropriate...and did you wonder why his family decided to keep the situation private and not tell the DeLorean list(s) first?

DMCNews

I recieved a call this morning from Charles DeLorean, Johns brother.

He verified what we had already known that John had the stroke and the
prospect did not look good. He reiterated what Kathyn had stated that he has
lasted
longer than anyone has expected. No one at this point has any idea of how
long he has left with us it is now up to John.

John has been moved to a room where he is resting comfortably and will remain
there until and I will leave it at that.

John has been an inspiration to all of us and a motivator for us to keep our
Dream alive.

He kept his dream alive and now it is our turn to keep it going.

The family has been very gracious in including us in there chain of contacts
in keeping us informed on his condition. It is unlikely I will get any more
information until things change.

Keep John in your prayers

Ken

NEWARK, N.J. Mar 20, 2005 — John Z. DeLorean, an innovative automaker
who left a promising career in Detroit to develop the short-lived
gull-winged sports cars featured as a souped-up time travel machine in
the "Back to the Future" movies, has died. He was 80.

DeLorean died Saturday at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J., of
complications from a recent stroke, said Paul Connell, an owner of
A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors in Royal Oak, Mich., which was
handling arrangements.
